Makenna Johnston was a corporate project manager and a marketing creative. That is, until she fell in love with an Air Force officer and realized corporate life could no longer be her dream. She parlayed that experience to shift to coaching creative entrepreneurs and humans who long to find meaning in the work they do and make killer money doing it. Whether through writing, speaking, or creating her work’s cornerstone is the notion that intention trumps expectation and that input matters far more than extraction. The results? Alignment & Presence. (Things the world could use more of).
By delving deep into systems, strategic leadership, and soulful mindbody connection Makenna works in tandem with visionaries (she calls them unicorns) to manage being in the world with grace and ease. Her experience is steeped in a richly diverse background spanning industries including project/account/creative management, user experience, wealth creation methodology in the developing world, childbirth, and wellness/yoga/mindbody/fitness.
She is graduate of Smith College and New York University. She is currently as a PhD candidate at the European Graduate School. (Where she studies with the likes of Helene Cixous, Judith Butler, and Avital Ronell.)
She has taught and/or mentored students at George Washington University, StartingBloc, Stetson School of Business & the College of Liberal Arts at Mercer University, Wesleyan College, and Middle Georgia State College.
She lives in the south of France with her wife. And every so often can be found teaching skiing to folks with unique needs at Beaver Creek Resort.
What we chat about:
– Makenna’s journey from $50 000 success to purchasing Julia’s Child’s house and creating a cooking school, and the massive mindset shifts that allowed this to happen
– how multi-faceted Unicorn wrangling is now firmly and squarely in Makenna’s job description
– MakJo’s description of how leaning into an opportunity opens your up to infinity (you will love the geeky explanation of this!).
